Brand Story
Founded in 1900 (the 26th year of Guangxu's reign) by Frenchman Banza near Dongjiaominxiang, Beijing Hotel began as a small tavern with three storefronts. In 1903, it moved to its current site and gradually expanded into one of Beijing's most luxurious hotels. In 1917, the Sino-French Industrial Bank took over and rebuilt it as a seven-story French-style edifice, then the tallest building in Beijing. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the hotel became a key venue for state affairs and diplomatic receptions, hosting numerous heads of state and dignitaries. The West Wing was added in 1954, and the East Wing in 1974, forming its present scale.
