Cuizipai is a traditional small-mill sesame oil brand from Weifang, Shandong, renowned for its stone-mill craftsmanship and century-old heritage. It embodies the essence of Luzhong cuisine and artisan spirit.
Brand Story
Cuizipai small-mill sesame oil originates from Weifang, Shandong, with a history dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). According to legend, the Cui ancestors migrated to Weixian (now Weifang) in the early Ming, utilizing local premium sesame and traditional stone-mill techniques to pioneer the craft of small-mill sesame oil. Through generations, Cuizipai developed the unique 'water substitution method' (shui dai fa), which uses low-temperature grinding and physical separation to preserve the natural nutrients and aroma of sesame. During the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), the Cui family oil mill gained local fame, selling products to surrounding areas. In the early 20th century, Cui Shengyang (dates unknown) inherited the family business, officially named it 'Cuizipai', and refined the process for more consistent quality. After the founding of New China, Cuizipai was collectivized and later transformed into a modern enterprise. Cuizipai is not just a condiment but a carrier of Luzhong's culinary culture and artisan spirit, with its traditional techniques listed as intangible cultural heritage, making it a representative of China's time-honored brands.
