Brand Story
Duyun Maojian originates from Duyun City, Guizhou Province, with a history dating back to the Ming Dynasty. According to the Duyun Prefecture Annals, tea cultivation began during the Chongzhen era (1628-1644), and the tea was offered as tribute to the imperial court. During the Qianlong period (1736-1795), local tea farmers developed unique plucking and roasting techniques, producing tightly rolled leaves with white down and a clear, fragrant infusion. By the Republican era, Duyun Maojian had gained fame in the southwest. In 1956, farmers sent their finest tea to Chairman Mao Zedong, who praised it and suggested the name 'Maojian' (literally 'fine down'), officially adopting it. Beyond a beverage, Duyun Maojian carries the tea traditions of the Buyi and Miao peoples, making it a vital representative of Guizhou's tea culture.
