Brand Story
Fang Hui Chun Tang was established during the Shunzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty (around 1649) by Fang Qingyi, a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner from Qiantang, at Wangjiang Gate in Hangzhou. Fang specialized in internal medicine, particularly in regulating and tonifying the body, and was known for his strict adherence to the 'monarch, minister, assistant, guide' principle of herbal formulation. During the Tongzhi reign, the pharmacy moved to Qinghefang and gradually prospered, becoming a leading Chinese medicine store in Hangzhou. In the Republic of China era, Fang Hui Chun Tang adhered to ancient preparation methods, and its herbal paste-making techniques were highly regarded in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. After the public-private partnership in 1956, the pharmacy was merged into the Hangzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Factory, and the time-honored brand fell into obscurity. In 2001, Fang Hui Chun Tang reopened at its original site on Hefang Street, reviving traditional herbal pastes, pills, powders, and ointments, and published the 'Complete Collection of Fang Hui Chun Tang Pills, Powders, and Ointments'. Since its revival, the pharmacy has upheld the motto 'Heal the world, integrity first', regularly organizing free clinics by renowned doctors and participating in community health services, rejuvenating the century-old brand. Its Herbal Paste Culture Festival has become one of Hangzhou's folk activities, showcasing the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine in contemporary times.
