Brand Story
Founded in 1866 during the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty, Han Fuxing began as a small duck shop near Shuixi Gate in Nanjing, opened by Han Liandeng, a Hui Muslim. Known for meticulous ingredient selection and refined techniques, his saltwater duck—with its white skin, tender meat, and rich yet non-greasy taste—quickly gained fame. By the Guangxu period (1875-1908), Han Fuxing had become a leading duck brand in Nanjing, rivaling names like Wei Hongxing. During the Republic era (1912-1949), its pressed duck became a prized gift, sold as far as Shanghai and Hangzhou. After public-private partnership in 1956, the brand joined the Nanjing Food Company, preserving its traditional craft. In 2006, Han Fuxing was recognized as a 'China Time-honored Brand,' and its techniques were listed as Nanjing intangible cultural heritage. Through wars and reforms, it has remained true to its halal identity, a living fossil of Jinling cuisine.
