Brand Story

Manggong Biscuits originated in Foshan, Guangdong, during the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty (c. 1736-1795). Legend has it that a blind fortune-teller named He Shengchao lived in Foshan, and his son He Yuzhai sold pastries beside his father's stall. To make it easier for his blind father to eat, He Yuzhai created a crispy, sweet biscuit. Because his father was blind, it was named 'Manggong Biscuit' (Blind Man's Biscuit). Made from mung bean flour, sugar, and peanuts, the biscuit's unique taste gradually made it a famous local product. The He family passed down the recipe through generations, and by the late Qing and early Republic period, it was renowned across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau. Manggong Biscuits are not just a local delicacy but also a carrier of Foshan's folk culture, embodying folk wisdom and filial piety.
