Senhexing, a jewelry brand originating from Jiangxi, traces its roots back to the mid-to-late Qing Dynasty. According to local chronicles and family genealogies, during the Jiaqing reign (1796-1820), a craftsman surnamed Xiong in Nanchang Prefecture, skilled in gold and silver work, opened a small shop specializing in silver ornaments and gem-inlaid pieces. His exquisite craftsmanship earned the shop the name 'Senhexing'. By the Tongzhi reign (1862-1874), Xiong's descendant Xiong Zhaoxiang inherited the business, expanded operations, and established branches along the Gan River, attracting local artisans and developing a distinctive style. Senhexing became renowned for its 'fine materials, meticulous workmanship, and elegant designs', blending Jiangxi folk customs with literati aesthetics. Its creations, such as silver longevity locks and gold-inlaid jade hairpins, were beloved by gentry and commoners alike. During the Republic era, Senhexing participated in local chambers of commerce and promoted industry standards, but the shop ceased operations amid wartime turmoil. Today, descendants seek to revive the brand, reviving traditional techniques and preserving the cultural legacy of Ganpo gold and silver craftsmanship.
