Brand Story

Founded in 1862 during the Qing Dynasty's Tongzhi era, Tianxingju originally operated at Xianyu Kou (Fresh Fish Alley) near Qianmen in Beijing. Its founder, Liu Yongxiang, gained fame for his chao gan, a dish made with pork intestines and liver, prepared with meticulous techniques and carefully selected ingredients. During the Republican era, Tianxingju competed with Huixianju on the same street, and in 1933, the two merged, preserving the craft. Tianxingju's chao gan features a glossy, garlicky broth with a rich, savory taste. As a representative of Beijing snacks, Tianxingju has witnessed the city's transformation, and its chao gan technique has been listed as a Beijing intangible cultural heritage, making it a significant symbol of Beijing's culinary identity.
