Yonghe traces its origins to mid-Qing Dynasty Fujian (circa 1800, during the Jiaqing reign). According to local chronicles, when epidemics plagued the region, renowned physician Lin Yonghe (1765-1845) established the 'Yonghe Tang' pharmacy, embodying the motto 'sustained benevolence, harmonious healing for all.' Lin, an expert in herbal studies, created the signature 'Yonghe Herbal Paste' (gaofang), made from authentic ingredients and renowned for its efficacy. By the late Qing (1900, Guangxu era), the third-generation heir Lin Zhaoji (1870-1945) expanded the business into herb wholesale and founded the 'Yonghe Pharmaceutical Workshop' to standardize processing. In 1930, the pharmacy moved to Taijiang, Fuzhou, becoming a celebrated name in Fujian. After 1949, it transitioned through public-private partnership and eventually became Yonghe Pharmaceutical Company, blending tradition with modern management. Yonghe embodies the wisdom of Min medicine, upholding the principle of 'authentic processing, honest healing.'
