Brand Story
Yunnan Baiyao was formulated in 1902 (the 28th year of the Guangxu reign) by Qu Huanzhang, a native of Jiangchuan, Yunnan. During the late Qing Dynasty, wars and conflicts were frequent, and injuries were common. Qu consulted renowned doctors, drew on diverse prescriptions, and incorporated the medical knowledge of the Yi and Miao ethnic groups. After repeated trials, he perfected this powder. Its remarkable efficacy earned it the name 'Baibao Dan' (Precious Treasure Pill). In 1916 (the 5th year of the Republic), Qu submitted the formula to the Yunnan provincial government and obtained approval for public sale. During the War of Resistance, Yunnan Baiyao accompanied the Yunnan Army, treating countless wounded soldiers and gaining widespread fame. In 1955, Qu's widow, Miao Lanying, donated the secret formula to the new China, and it was produced by the Kunming Pharmaceutical Factory, later renamed the Yunnan Baiyao Factory. Culturally, it is not only a crystallization of traditional Chinese medicine but also a carrier of the nation's historical memory of salvation, making it a unique 'sacred remedy for trauma' among China's time-honored brands.
