In the Republic era (1912-1949), the predecessor 'Yuhua Zhai' opened in Jinan, founded by Wang Yutang (1888-1960), who learned from imperial jade artisans and excelled in relief and openwork carving. After the public-private partnership in 1956, Yuhua Zhai merged into the Jinan Arts and Crafts Factory, and the Yutu trademark was registered in the 1980s. Named after the moon rabbit, symbolizing auspiciousness and purity, the brand's works often draw on Confucian themes, making it a representative of Shandong's jewelry culture.
