Danjia Xiangsu Duck traces its roots to the late Qing Dynasty (around the 1890s), when the Dan family started a braised food stall on the outskirts of Guiyang. In the 1930s, the second-generation heir Dan Deming moved the business to Guiyang's old town, officially establishing the 'Danjia Xiangsu Duck' brand. After 1949, the third generation, Dan Zhongyi, carried on the craft and revived the business during the reform era, blending tradition with modern hygiene standards. Today, it stands as a symbol of Guiyang's local flavors and has been listed as an intangible cultural heritage of Guiyang.
