Brand Story
Founded in 1738 during the Qing Dynasty by Shanxi native Wang Ruifu, Du Yi Chu began as 'Wang Ji Wine Shop' on Qianmen Street. On New Year's Eve of 1752, Emperor Qianlong, returning incognito from a private visit, stopped by the shop and was so impressed by the food that he bestowed the name 'Du Yi Chu' (meaning 'the only one in the capital'). Since then, the shop has specialized in shaomai and other Beijing snacks. Through generations, Du Yi Chu has adhered to traditional handmade techniques, with shaomai featuring thin wrappers and generous fillings, becoming a symbol of Beijing's food culture.
