Located in Jiangkou Town, Pingchang County, Sichuan, Jiangkou Chun's brewing history dates back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. According to local records, during the Guangxu reign (1875-1908), several workshops already operated here, using the town's pristine water and glutinous sorghum from eastern Sichuan, fermented through traditional solid-state methods. In the Republican era (1912-1949), these workshops merged into 'Jiangkou Shaofang', whose baijiu was shipped along the Qujiang River to Chongqing and Wuhan. In the 1950s, after public-private partnership, the state-run Pingchang Distillery was established, later renamed Jiangkou Chun. Combining ancient techniques with modern technology, it developed a distinctive style marked by rich cellar aroma and a clean, sweet finish. Beyond being a local economic pillar, Jiangkou Chun has become a cultural icon of northeastern Sichuan, and its brewing craft is listed as a provincial intangible cultural heritage (pending verification).
