After a change of ownership, Li Shanlin from Ningbo renamed it 'Kuiyuan Guan', symbolizing good fortune and scholarly success. During the Republican era, it specialized in Ningbo-style noodles, especially shrimp and eel noodles, attracting literati like Cai Tingkai and Mei Lanfang. With meticulous preparation and savory broths, it became a leading noodle house in Hangzhou.
