Brand Story
Ninghong Gongfu tea originates from Xiushui, Jiangxi, with a history tracing back to the Daoguang era (c. 1821-1850). At that time, tea farmers in the mountainous region utilized local superior tea cultivars and unique processes of withering, rolling, fermentation, and drying to create a black tea with tightly twisted strips, a glossy dark color, and rich aroma. By the Guangxu era (1875-1908), Ninghong had become one of China's representative black teas, exported to Europe and America, earning the saying, 'If Ninghong hasn't arrived, the tea chests remain unopened.' During the Republic era, Ninghong won a gold medal at the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, further cementing its international reputation. The prosperity of Ninghong was driven by local tea merchants like the 'Yining' tea house, who improved techniques and expanded markets, making it a pillar of Xiushui's economy. Ninghong is not just a beverage; it embodies the history and culture of Xiushui, witnessing the brilliance of modern Chinese tea trade.
“If Ninghong hasn't arrived, the tea chests remain unopened.”
