The history of Qiulin Lidaosi dates back to 1900 (the 26th year of the Guangxu reign in the Qing Dynasty), when Russian merchant Ivan Yakovlevich Qiulin founded the Qiulin Company in Harbin, introducing Russian food-making techniques. In 1909 (the first year of the Xuantong reign), the company established a sausage workshop producing Russian-style red sausages, which gradually developed a unique flavor. In 1919 (the 8th year of the Republic of China), Qiulin began brewing kvass, which became a signature Harbin beverage.
