Brand Story
Zhijiang Distillery's history dates back to the 22nd year of the Jiaqing reign (1817) in the Qing Dynasty, when the 'Qiantai Ji' workshop was established in Zhijiang county town. Founder Zhang Yuannan used local premium sorghum and wheat, with water from the Yangtze tributaries, and employed traditional solid-state fermentation to produce a liquor renowned for its rich aroma and pure taste. During the late Qing and early Republic era, Zhijiang wine was presented as a local tribute to the imperial court. In 1952, the government established the state-owned Zhijiang Distillery on the foundation of 'Qiantai Ji', later renamed Hubei Zhijiang Distillery Co., Ltd. Zhijiang wine carries the profound cultural heritage of Jingchu, with its brewing techniques passed down through generations, embodying the wisdom and folk customs of the Yangtze River basin.
