Brand Story
Located in Tonghua County, Jilin Province, Daquanyuan Distillery traces its roots to the Qing Dynasty's Guangxu era (1875-1908). According to the Tonghua County Annals, a local spring named 'Daquanyuan' was famed for its sweet, pure water and long brewing history. During the Guangxu period, a Shandong brewer surnamed Liu migrated here and, using the high-quality sorghum and spring water, established a distillery named 'Daquanyuan Shaoguo' (Daquanyuan Pot Still). Its liquor, celebrated for being 'mellow, sweet, clean, and crisp,' was sold both within and beyond the Shanhai Pass. In the Republican era, the distillery expanded and became a renowned local brand. After the founding of New China, the distillery was nationalized, preserving traditional techniques and registering the 'Daquanyuan' trademark. In 2006, Daquanyuan's traditional brewing technique was listed as a Jilin Province intangible cultural heritage. Daquanyuan liquor bears witness to the development of Northeast China's liquor industry, embodies the memory of Guandong culture, and serves as a living fossil of Jilin's liquor heritage.
