Brand Story
Dongjiu traces its origins to Zunyi, Guizhou, where brewing traditions date back to the Wei, Jin, and Southern and Northern Dynasties (220-589 AD). During the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911), the Cheng family established a distillery near Donggong Temple in Zunyi, innovating a technique that used over a hundred Chinese herbs in the fermentation starter. In the Republican era (1912-1949), Cheng Mingkun, known as 'Donggong,' refined the recipe and officially named the liquor 'Dongjiu.' Its clear, slightly yellow liquid offers an elegant aroma and a mellow, lingering taste. Resuming production in 1957, Dongjiu has since earned multiple national honors. Its craftsmanship, blending traditional Chinese medicine principles with solid-state fermentation, stands as a living testament to Guizhou's brewing heritage.
