Brand Story
Founded in 1821 during the Qing Dynasty's Daoguang reign, Shuanghecheng was established in Taiyuan by two partners, Li Shanren and Zhang Dianren. The name 'Shuanghecheng' symbolizes their unity, reflecting the proverb 'When two people are of one heart, their combined strength can cut through metal.' Initially selling dried fruits and pastries, the brand later became famous for its 'Guo Dulin' mooncakes. In 1900, during the Boxer Rebellion, Empress Dowager Cixi fled westward and, passing through Taiyuan, tasted Shuanghecheng's pastries. She praised them highly, and they were subsequently designated as imperial tribute. During the Republic era, Shuanghecheng incorporated techniques from both northern and southern pastry-making, developing a unique style. After undergoing socialist transformation in 1956 and subsequent reforms, it is now known as Taiyuan Shuanghecheng Food Co., Ltd. Adhering to the Shanxi merchants' spirit of 'righteousness over profit and integrity as the foundation,' its pastry-making techniques have been inscribed on the National Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
